Midnight, Matacuna, Anniversary and Painted Lady
Art Collection; Grays School of Art Collection
Landscape
Michie, David
2006

Artist statement:

The painting derives from a pyramid growing of sweet peas in my garden. The title given uses the names of the sweet pea varieties there. I was charmed by the names so I used them as the title. I have been attracted to gardens for many years as a source for paintings. I like the contrast between the wandering organic growth and the pattern of plants set against the human imposed geometry that one finds in gardens. It is a compositional game to play.   [More Info]
