Description:
This is a magnetic- core memory, the RAM computer memory device used between the mid 50s and the mid 70s. It uses tiny metal rings 'cores', threaded on wire which could be magnetised or demagneticsed with pulses of electrical current.
This is how they stored the 'binary' information, held as a '1' or a '0', used by most computers. This RAM would have held only a kilobyte of information. The manufacturer was the Mullard Space Science Laboratory at University College London.
