Digital video inspired by women's health.

Artist's statement:
This work was created as part of a project that focussed on women’s health, specifically looking towards the condition of endometriosis. The moving image was generated from a physical costume of cells encompassing, obscuring, and abstracting the body, their movement interpreting and reflecting the cells that multiply and move throughout the body in the condition of endometriosis. The sound that accompanies the work is that of a tens machine, which is attached to the body and creates electrical impulses to soothe muscle pain. Overall the work aims to personify a societal view where the physical condition of the female body balances between delicate femininity and monstrous natures.
