Description:

Site plan of an open air theatre. Created in pencil and black ink on white paper. The piece of work on paper has been mounted onto card. There are drawing pin holes to the corners of this board.

Following travel in South America Rogers returned to Scotland and joined the practice of Gillespie Kidd & Coia as an assistant. He remained with this practice for eight years before joining Michael Laird in 1963 and becoming Laird's first partner in 1967, the name of the practice changing to Michael Laird & Partners. Laird said of him he was 'ever forbearing and ever forgiving ...without him it could never have happened...more than a stabiliser, a real strength. Not just one of nature's gentlemen but possibly the gentlest man I have ever met'.

Rogers was very interested in landscape design and this led to a Landscape Department being set up within the practice. His experience in personnel management was important to the practice.
