Description:

Tryptych.
Lauren Ferguson’s practice is primarily concerned with a sense of place that she has developed over the course of the session, through an in-depth exploration of the history, architecture and associated objects within spaces that she has a personal connection. Notions within the methodologies of Deep Mapping and psychogeography underpin Ferguson’s research and have allowed her to develop a deeper and new found awareness for these places.

This year has seen Ferguson’s work focus on the Edinburgh suburb of Colinton, which upon revisiting, has revived dormant childhood memories that through drawing and painting she has developed into a sequence of open narratives. These tales are deliberated through the lens of individual, collective and social memories.
