Artist Statement:
Faye Eleanor Woods is a painter exploring her emotions and experience of life with grief. Focusing on the goofy hilarious moments in life, Woods uses her own memories and tales to create a highly emotional narrative. Even the softer more intimate parts of her work are riddled with dark humour. Essentially her work is an inner catharsis for dealing with loss and fear. In her practice Woods tries to bring attention to the surreal aspects of life and the way the oddness of experience manifests within individuals and how that manifestation affects her. In her vulnerability Woods craves strange moments of intimacy. She imagines drinking straight from the tap of all emotion, drinking so much of it, she takes on too much and is sick. Everything she spews out ends up in her work.
