Artist's statement:
“’Home’ promises to fulfil our perpetual searching for a stable centre; making tangible our psychological need to belong. Whilst homeliness is suggestive of safety and nurturing, the foreign is associated with danger.
My practice exploits this universal familiarity with the notion of home. Through reconsideration of the domestic, I expose home as an extension of the unknown. Objects reminiscent of idyllic homeliness contradict themselves revealing the possible unpleasantness of the situation. Home is destabilised as the boundaries of the familiar and foreign are blurred."
