Description:

Cardboard folder containing 11 colour lithographs of objects held in the South Kensington Museum (now the V&A) in 1870.

In addition, this folder contains:
- A lithograph of 'The Duke of Gloucester' by Sir Joshua Reynolds (See ABDRG2019.2.15)
- A German-produced "Masters of Painting" folder containing 3 lithographs by J. Vermeer, Albrecht Durer and Hans Memling (See ABDRG2019.2.16)
- A lithograph of 'The Holy Land' from an original drawing by David Roberts, RA (See ABDRG2019.2.17)

First page of the folder reads:

Chromolithographs of the Principal Objects in the Art Collections of the South Kensington Museum.

My Lords direct the Science and Art Department to prepare a series of Chromolithographs of the principal objects in the Art Collections of the South Kensington Museum for the use of the Schools of Art in the United Kingdom.
The chromolithographs are to be executed in the best possible manner from coloured drawings produced under the direction of Mr Redgrave R.A., the Inspector-General for Art, and the best lithographers of any country may be employed in the production of them. A descriptive notice written by a competent authority will accompany each chromolithograph.
