Artist's statement:
There are two strands to my work, kinetic sculptures and constructed reliefs.
Both directions have developed in parallel and are complementary, reflecting my interest in real and illusory movement and the interplay of light and shade on forms in relief and in the round.
The kinetic pieces are outdoor works where the relationship of lines and planes is transient, changing in response to the strength and direction of the wind.

The reliefs are indoor pieces designed to be seen where natural light falling on the geometric forms can create a pattern of shadows that varies as the sun moves during the course of the day, adding a random, but important, element to the composition.

Lightfall is one of a series made between 1999 and 2010.
