Description:

Artist statement:

When I think about animals in our contemporary society, I am increasingly aware of our estrangement from them due to advances in biotechnology. The premise is that this is for the
progress of civilisation, but to what end. What will it mean in the future to be human when we rely soley on the mechanisms of science for health and procreation?
What happens to our innate ability to love and heal, which I believe is so much more powerful. if we let ourselves be dominated by the promises of technology? The idolatry of science
cannot reveal the mysteries of this life and will never completely rescue us from our ultimate reality.

RGU Purchase Prize 2008. BP Fine Art Award Winner 2008.
