'A Dictionary of Art and Artists' A reference book published by Penguin. 355 pages. Peter Murray the author studied at Gray's School of Art and went on to study at the Slade in London in 1937. Following the Second World War he studied Art History at the Courtauld Institute where he gained a B.A. (with honors) in 1947. He became a Birkbeck College historian of the Italian Renaissance and was known for his introductory texts on Art and Art History. Murray died in 1992.
