Gray's School of Art was a very traditional Art School experience which I know is rare today. I recall great emphasis being placed on drawing from life and Drawing in general. Drawing was the principle activity in the graphics studio too - in preparing roughs, artwork, seperations for colour printing and spotting out negatives etc, etc. Pencils and rotring pens ruled....Computers were yet to play any part, though in my last year a photo typesetter did arrive and staff and students were given instruction. I created the text for 'Cycle of Pattern' at that time in the typeface Plantin. My life as an artist and teacher was greatly influenced by those years.
