Description:

Artist's statement:

This was my first 'big' composition. At the time it was created I was intrigued with the stylised figures of Wyndam Lewis, Christopher Nevison and Paul Nash. The landscape was based on Donside near the Crombie Mill at Grandholm. Teams of men hoeing in a group was a common sight in Buchan, before they were replaced by chemicals and mechanisation.

Agricultural landscape with a group of men hoeing in a field.
