Artist statement:

Observing everyday phenomena lies at the basis of my work. That which appears mundane can yield new depth when captured and amplified through the use of film. Time is slowed, detail and attention is focused, exposing captivating rhythms and meditative qualities. My work invites the viewers to engage in their own subjective experience of the work. Through my yoga practice, with its attention focussed on the body and mind, I have gained an interest in exploring the notion of self-awareness and transcendence. In response to this I have been exploring the effects that rhythms and repitition can have on consciousness when channelled through the medium of video. I am interested in how the repetition of an image or sound can induce a form of trance and escapism, almost creating a different state of mind. Through installations I am interested in creating a meditative environment that engenders a sensory experience, through the transformation of everyday phenomena.
