James Alexander Hector (1868-1940) was awarded a bronze medal in the national competition in 1885-86. He received a medal as an art student in Practical Geometry.
At one point Hector taught in the Aberdeen School of Design.
A donation to Robert Gordon University by Miss Isobel Gordon.

Portrait of French man wearing a chapeau. Sitter is believed to be J. Desseignet who was assistant in French at Aberdeen University.
