Description:

A brown envelope with a Gray's logo designed by George Mackie. George Mackie was appointed to the post of Head of Design at Gray's in 1956 and retired in 1980. He continues to work freelance and produced excellent work for Edinburgh University Press as a book designer. In 1973 he was made a Royal Designer in Industry.

George Mackie is a former Head of Design at Gray's School of Art. In 1973 he was awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce.

George Mackie was also a member of the Bomber Squadron during WWII.
