Artist's Statement
“My work this year has been on personalities, exploring personal traits and characteristics of people. I have incorporated a selection of anthropomorphic stereotypes which describe people in a colloquial manner, for instance mischievous monkeys and wise old owls, People’s perceptions of themselves sometimes differ from how they wish to be seen or how others see them. Constructing these abstracted representations and combining them with descriptive text, their favourite colours and other imagery relating to their work and/or interests. They convey or communicate a self-representational feel of individuals and creating a metaphoric language. Using woodcuts and screen-printing as my primary method, there is a building up of layers to produce these narrative compositions”
