Description:

My collection is inspired by aircraft, airports and the Aviation Industry as a
whole. I became interested in this topic since flying became a huge part of my
life once I started studying abroad in Aberdeen.
In order to gather primary research, I visited the Imperial War and Royal
Air Force Museums in London, where I had an opportunity to take detailed
pictures of planes and these pictures became the base for my patterns. I
developed an interest in typography and how it can be implemented into art /
fashion. This led to my carrying out research of the typography that features
on aircraft whilst the component parts of aircraft inspired me to translate their
forms into fabrics. I also incorporated the use of quilting and cord binding to
create interesting surfaces.
In addition, I researched the development of aviation work-wear over the
years. The main inspiration for my garments is the contrast between feminine
flight attendant uniforms and masculine sheepskin bomber jackets.
The whole collection is made from leather because I was inspired by the use of
leather in pilot jackets but I included the use of shearling for smaller details.Padded cream, grey, lime green and maroon jacket with pink wool collar and cuff. Decorated with aircraft style typography.
