Description:

A composition featuring a large interior with corinthian columns and a vaulted ceiling. A small collection of people are seen praying in the middle-ground.
A RSA Portrait painter who was head of Gray's 1911-1914.

Former student and award winner John M Aiken would become Head of Gray's School of Art in 1910, a time of trial and reorganisation, when the school became known as the "Aberdeen School of Arts and Crafts, Gray's School of Art." This was to possibly encourage a relationship with local industries. Around this time, courses for stone-cutters, masons, plumbers, painters and decorators, cabinetmakers and even watch and clock makers were available.
