Cameron Lyall is an interdisciplinary fashion designer exploring the middle ground between menswear and womenswear, producing his works under the desing identity C.N. LYALL. The Greek term οὐ-τόπος (NO-PLACE) defines a physical/metaphsyical space which is by nature undefinable. In NO-PLACE, C.N. LYALL asks the importance of experience on an individuals - particulary his own.
During a year of isolation and limbo, C.N. LYALL lost himself. Dazed and confused, with no sense of creative direction or drive, he sought out ways to escape this clouded headspace and reconnect with his practice, escaping to a desolate region of the Scottish coast as a facilitator for this process. It was here in this coastal region that the project was born, out of a period of grief and escapism. The NO-PLACE became both a physical and mental space where the designer disconnected, existed and developed.
C.N. LYALL utilises sound, video, sustainable digital design processes and a community-focused practice to materialise a metamorphic achievement in self discovery - resulting in an open-ended unisex collection created for existence and stability in the vast horizon of the NO-PLACE.
