Description:

Artist's statement
Throughout my studies, I observed assumptions that are made about youth versus maturity, but I also recognised that my self-directed work is often inspired by my background and insight. Using a blend of both illustration and graphic design, I chose to embrace my age and lived experiences in this project. The result is a visual history of the past forty years from a personal perspective. I considered my life and memories from growing up and living in Aberdeen while exploring popular culture and design trends.

It developed into an exploration of themes of identity and class but always with a focus on positivity. I want to tell stories, reminisce and make people smile. This theme allowed me to experiment and create outcomes with playfulness, parody and humour.
