Description:

This red earthenware body may have been glazed by James Gordon Macintyre. It was thrown by Muriel Macintyre. The bowl features a lead bichromate glaze lined at 1050 degrees. This is a difficult glaze to acheive as if the temperature goes too high it would burn out.. If too low it would not flux and had a dead ring to it. Nairn Pottery existed from 1961 until approximately 1993. The pottery produced bowls which were sold locally and which feature in many gallery collections. Work produced in Nairn Pottery featured a red earthenware body, glazed with an opaque white majolica glaze inlaid and overlaid with oxides.
