Refer to as Professor Lennox Dunbar RSA

Artist's statement:
"I enter the studio with no idea of what is going to happen. I bring a number of things to the mix: a knowledge and understanding of grammar and language, and a series of references that provide the basics for a range of ideas. There begins a process of discovery, invention and a curious desire to reveal to myself something new and exciting that allows me to view things in a different way. The paintings are constructed from many references, from experiences noted while travelling, to building reconstruction in rural Aberdeenshire."

This earlier work by Artist Lennox Dunbar is printed on paper and was created at Peacock Visual Arts during his tenure as Head of Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art.
He was appointed lecturer in Painting and Printmaking 1986 and became Head of Printmaking in 1987. Many of his contemporary works incorporate mixed media including resin. Take a look at his later work on the RSA website to see how it has developed.
His mixed media paintings and prints explore the notion of ‘place,’ usually by incorporating objects from his locale. Drawing on the iconography of the north east of Scotland, Dunbar reflects the sense of a place through glimmers of objects and shapes, creating his own form of archaeology by layering, honing and adjusting a work.
