Robert Henderson Blyth RSA RSW 1919-1970.
Following an appointment to a teaching position at the Edinburgh College of Art In 1947, Henderson Blyth served as Artist-in-Residence at Hospitalfield House (Arbroath). In 1954 he moved to Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, becoming Head of Drawing and Painting in 1960. He was a close friend of William Gillies and together they worked on the East Coast of Scotland. Both men favoured a pen and wash technique. A brilliant draughtsman, with the skill to create wonderful balanced compositions. Works by the artist are held in the Imperial War Museum, as he continued to draw and paint during his service during the war.
