Life drawing. Head and shoulders self portrait by sculptor Richard Ross Robertson who taught at Gray's school of art.

In 1939 Richard Ross Robertson joined the RAF as a radio operator.
During the war Robertson took part in delivering Lockheed Hudson light bomber/ reconnaissance aircraft from Canada to Great Britain. As the aircraft were unarmed the flights were routed from Canada to Great Britain via Argentina, Lagos and Spain.
