Alexander Fraser studied at Gray's School of Art between 1958 and 1962, and did a post diploma in 1963. He later became senior lecturer in Drawing and Painting at the School. His work is often inspired by memories of foreign travel and his native Aberdeenshire. He is a noted portrait artist, with works held in the National Galleries of Scotland collection.
