Description:

Statement:
This composition considers looking beyond surface appearances.
I was interested in creating “worlds within worlds”- the whole scene takes place within the bird-like figure at the top. As depicted in much of medieval or early Renaissance art, the women in this picture seem so demure and unthreatening but I wanted to show the more complex characters lurking underneath.
They may be innocently picking flowers but their surroundings are infected by their true intentions.
The world they have created is full of monsters.

Two female figures wearing medieval costume and headwear accompanied by a devilish figure who is sticking out his tongue.
