Description:

Work shows site plan of St Andrew Street / School buildings of RGU including School of Engineering, School of Science, School of Engineering and Navagation as well as the adjacent Art Gallery. Ink, pen and pencil on wax coated fabric paper. The inks have been applied to the back of the sheet to create a subtle hue on the correct side. From a set of 4 Drawings (not bound) rolled together depicting plans for RGU buildings, three are on a parchment type paper and one is on a wax coated fabric paper. Pen and watercolours. They are unsigned but the address of 256 Union Terrace appears on ABDRG2010.1.1 which could indicate that it is work from John Alexander Ogg Allan. The proximity of this work to ABDRG2009.572-574 (work by J.A.O Allan Ross and Allan Chartered Architects) is also indicative that this work could indeed have the same maker (John Alexander Ogg Allan). The finish on this work is less formal than others and the pieces seem to preliminary sketches/ workings, with pencil amendments on them.

Object Number: ABDRG2010.1.1

Work most likely to be from J.A.O Allan Ross and Allan Chartered Architects, commissioned by Robert Gordon’s Technical College
